Elizabeth Banks in Andrew Gn

I know, another picture of a celebrity.  I absolutely have become obsessed with the whole classy, mod, or vintage style.  Elizabeth Banks wore this outside of the David Letterman show and she just looks so classy with her little red purse, gloves and quarter-length sleeved coat.  This is a great look on her.

Golden Globes 2012

Ever since I was little, I have lived for all of the award shows.  I love seeing who gets awards, but mainly what all of the stars wore.  Last night, I was surprised at all of the great gowns.  No one decided to go completely overboard like we see at the Oscars.  My favorite dress last night was Michelle Williams in Jason Wu.  I love how beautiful and classy she looks.  I also enjoy the fact that she does not have to wear low cut or revealing dresses to show how beautiful she is.  I think some stars go overboard with the cleavage, unless you honestly cannot help it.  I also loved Charlize Theron's Dior Haute Couture gown.  The dress was low cut, but just gorgeous.  She can pull anything off.  Nicole Richie sparkled in a Julien MacDonald silver gown, which fitted her personal style perfectly.  Emma Stone also looked gorgeous in a gown by Lanvin.  She is quite the fashionista!  Mila Kunis who is the new spokeswoman for Dior, wore a sheer, and beautifully gathered and draped dress by Dior.  Kate Winslet, one of my favorite actresses always keeps it simple and classy.  She wore a black and white gown by Jenny Packham which accented her curves.

Pippa Middleton

I love this outfit.  It is simple and classy.  Pippa can do not wrong.

I am off to study for a bit and then off to work.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.  What do you think of 2012 so far?  I am not a fan that is for sure.

YUE- handmade bags and clutches

I have had a heck of a day today and an even more stressful past two weeks.  Not to complain, but damn.  Though, I must say I am happy to have stressful times in my life to make me a stronger person and realize how good my life really is.  To make my day better, you better believe I am going online to surf the blogs.  I found a site (featured on Urban Outfitters blog, which I am obsessed with) and it has the cutest clutches.  I love the color and shape of the clutches specifically, but love all of the bags on the site.  y-u-e.us or YUE is based on a family business and hand makes all products in limited quantities (as stated on their website).  The leather looks just perfect, and I cannot get over the shape of the clutch!  Truly unique and gorgeous pieces.
-It is so simple, but so gorgeous.  Why am I so obsessed with this clutch?

Prescreen.com

I read a short article on nylonmag.com about a website called prescreen.com.  The article is the perfect description of me and how much I absolutely love previews.  If you ask me, previews are like short stories. They hold your attention and leave you wanting more.  They are a perfect judge of if a movie is going to be good or you will not like it.  I highly suggest you check out the website and have hours of enjoyment from watching previews to Sundance Film Festival movies!

DIY: Jewelry Tree

Here is the diy I promised I would post last week.  I finally had a chance to put all of my jewelry on it and place it on my dresser for use.  I had a small drawer in my closet to put all of my jewelry in before and I could never find my necklaces or bracelets.  This tree is visually pleasing and very handy to find you jewelry quickly.  Here is how to make it!
1.  Here are the supplies you will need.
-Scissors
-Styrofoam Block (found at craft stores)
-Brown Tape (only if you want your tree to be brown or super sturdy)
-Wire (any color)
-Wooden Stick
-(Not Pictured) A Cute Flower Pot
-Next, start wrapping the wire around the stick.
-To create the branches, I created a loop and twisted it around my fingers.
-Then continue you to wrap wire around the tree and branches until it is thick and sturdy to hold your heaviest necklace.

-It is actually a smart idea to stick your tree in the styrofoam last.
-Stick it in a cute flower pot and add your jewelry.

The Retrosphere -Online Vintage Store

I love when things in life are convenient.  I also love to thrift shop specifically for vintage items.  This usually includes a drive to a thrift shop, a certain not so good vintage smell, and usually a women who smells as if she had rolled around in an ash tray.  At least this is typically what occurs in my thrifting.  I enjoy when I can just find a website that offers everything I am looking for, in a neat organized website, it also includes current trends, and best of all it is designer.  Sounds to good to be true.  I recently got an e-mail about a new website called The Retrosphere.  The Retrosphere has an eclectic mix of clothing with great prices, especially for designer pieces.  I really like a lot of their tops, gloves, and a 1960s peach colored hat.  One of my favorite items has to be a pair of sunglasses by Pierre Cardin.  They have an extreme cat eye type shape, I love them.  The Retrosphere also has adorable shoes.  I have already spent way to much time playing on the website.   Hope everyone has fun exploring too.  The Retrosphere only ships in the UK but soon they will ship internationally.  Here are some cute pictures of some of their clothes, I love how they are styled.

Pre-Fall 2012 Make-up Chanel

When I clicked on beauty on style.com and saw models with dreadlocks and very dark cat-eye styled make-up on the Chanel models, I knew I had to post it.  I love how the girls look beautiful but have the rough side to them with the dreadlocks.  The metal pieces are a bit large and oddly placed, but still pretty and interesting.

Long Sleeve Maxi Dresses (Duro Olowu)

Today is my day off.  I am quite relaxed and enjoying my day.  I am doing a little bit of sewing today as I had a few projects to finish for my family, like sewing a pillow, or fixing pajamas.  I went to sew and realized I do not have enough fabric to finish the shirt that I wanted to sew.  I am a bit bummed.  I am in the process of figuring out what to make now.  I always do that, it takes me forever to try and figure out what I want to sew, usually due to fabric restrictions.  So... if I come up with something I will definitely post it.  I just can not come up with good ideas today, it is disappointing.  I do not like the designs I have drawn out. I am frustrated, moving on.  I have been on the internet for a long time today staring at pictures and getting inspiration.  Though, today inspiration comes from my inbox.  I love getting e-mails from readers, no matter what it is.  I had a reader write to me giving me a challenge to sew a long dress with sleeves, but make it in a way that would be flattering to the person who is wearing it.  I love this idea and it is definitely something I want to achieve in my career.  I want to design for all women since all women have different shapes.  I wrote back and explained a designer did something similar to what my reader described, Duro Olowu to be exact.  He created long dresses, with a pattern and sleeves.  The cut of the dresses are perfect fit to the model, though they are incredibly skinny, I still love the concept.  Here are some pictures from style.com.

-You could easily add sleeves to the dress below.  Personally, I would take the shoulders in a bit to get away from the 80's vibe which slightly lingers in the photo.  This dress would be great on a fuller figured girl, or anyone with curves.  The way the bottom accents the hips and goes out to a mermaid skirt or fishtail bottom (whatever you call it) is a great way to even out proportions.  The tie around the waist is also a great addition to cinch in and compliment the waist.

Well now I am off to design and create........something..........
