Burberry Prorsum Mens AW 2011

I was looking for this video but it is impossible to find considering it just happened.  These are some pictures from Autumn/ Winter mens collection for Burberry Prorsum.  Though I believe many of my readers may be female, I believe that anyone can appreciate great fashion.  Here are some really great trench coats and such, by none other than the fashion genius himself, Christopher Bailey.  I usually think that some mens fashion is a bit crazy but these are just great in so many ways!  I want so many of the bags too, they seem to have a great amount of functionality, but I guess I couldn't it is a mens line.

 Why Hello Mr. Cheekbones!

 Christopher Bailey himself.
Honestly, I had a hard time picking good pictures, because they are all good!  If you would like to look at many more pictures check out style.com!  They have pictures of several major lines!

Golden Globes 2011

For the east coast the Golden Globes have just finished showing at 11.  I quickly ran to my computer to show my personal picks for best and worst.  In no way do I plan to demean the designers or actresses by slandering their fashion, yet merely explain why it was or wasn't an appropriate choice for the current time and place.  Here it is beginning with my favorites.
Catherine Zeta-Jones
-gown- Monique Lhuillier
-jewelry- Van Cleef & Arpels
-shoes & clutch- Ferragamo
I believe she looks stunning, this forest green is gorgeous!
 Sandra Bullock
-gown- Jenny Packman
-shoes- Jimmy Choo
-clutch- VBH
This gown is gorgeous on her, when she walked across stage to present, the gown swayed and sparkled in such an elegant fashion.  The look is very glamorous.
 Amy Adams
-gown- Marchesa
-shoes- Brian Atwood
-jewelry- Cartier diamonds
What a fabulous color with her red hair, Amy always knows how to dress.
 Mila Kunis
-gown- Vera Wang
-clutch- Judith Leiber
This gown is great for her body type, she looks classy and absolutely stunning.  Green seemed to be the great choice for many who walked upon the red carpet.
 Scarlett Johansson
-gown- Elic Sabb
-shoes- Jimmy Choo
-jewelry- Van Cleef & Arpels
This is the definition of 1940's class.  I love how she brought a hint of that old Hollywood glamour to the Golden Globes.
 Angelina Jolie
-gown- Versace
-jewelry- Robert Procep
This dress makes a great statement without being over the top, it is simple, classy and a perfect choice for her body type and the golden globes.  I also appreciate the lack of cleavage, yet how the dress is still very beautiful and sexy. (I love the green once again.)
 Emma Stone
-gown- Calvin Klein
-jewelry- Van Cleef & Arples
-shoes- Ferragamo
I am such a big fan of Emma, but why she would pick a dress that camouflages her dress with her skin and hair is beyond me.  She has such a great figure and could have played that up with a slightly darker color.  The back also has a plunging neckline, so I am curious to see if that would change my mind, but still.
 Olivia Wilde
-gown- Marchesa
-jewelry- Tiffany & Co.
-shoes- Christian Louboutin (booties)
Where is the prom?  Though I love this dress, it was definitely not a good choice for the Golden Globes.  The gold booties that are hiding behind the tulle and sparkles, were not the greatest choice either.
 Halle Berry
-gown- Nina Ricci
-jewelry- Harry Winston
This dress would be more appropriate to wear, well... some where else.  The Golden Globes is a classy event, not the time to experiment with a corset styled dress.  Next time go for the Glamour.
Though these are only a few of the best and worst.  If you want to check out the site where I gathered such great pictures and coverage of all things Golden Globes, check out www.people.com.

Spring 2011 Michael Kors

Once again as the spring season approaches, I have fallen in love with the fashion shows.  I thought today that I would post my favorite fashion show video, but looking through all of the styles and trends, I found that it is impossible.  I like all of them, which is ridiculous but it is true.  I feel as if the fashion world just keeps getting better every season!  I finally settled on the Michael Kors fashion show.  I love how he has such a strong and definitive vision.  His models always seem so confident as they portray strong, powerful, luxe women.  This particular line is just so simple and looks incredibly comfortable.  I love so many looks, especially the sparkly maxi dress with the gray top and brown belt, hello comfort!  I also love how all the models look sunburnt, it is so cute.  The fabrics move so great including the pink dresses.  Okay so I am really indecisive, it is all great and I have a lot to say about each outfit but I will spare you from the over analysis of each.  This is just a short video and is a good summary of the fashion line.  Enjoy!

Music of the Day

Tennis "Marathon"
I really like this song considering that it has been stuck in my head this week, it is also the free discovery download on itunes.  I figured you may need something to listen too while reading about bargain shopping or my many other fashion musing.

Shopping on a Budget - My Great Deals

I am a bargain shopper which is not a confession considering that I am proud to be what many consider a cheap skate.  I believe I am a smart shopper, or maybe just anal in my shopping ways.  I have several tips to on how to have a successful shopping experience while not breaking the bank.  Welcome to my mini crash course of bargain shopping.  (I wrote a college paper on the subject receiving a 98, whoop, whoop!)  Anyway...
1.Never buy on impulse.
-Make sure you know what you need before going shopping; for instance, I always take inventory and write a list of what I need.  You can also make a list of trends that are in style and apply it to what you need.
2.Create a budget.
-Make sure you know how much you can spend to avoid over spending!  It is a bad idea to show up at a mall or shopping center without knowing your limits.  It is better to enjoy a new pair of shoes than the worry of a shoebox full of debt.
3.Do research.
-I believe it is a smart idea to research stores that you like and see which stores are having a sale or if any of them have online coupons.
4.Go shopping.
-This may seem like a torturous list of stuff to do, but I promise it is great to have a plan especially if you are on a budget.  When I go shopping I always check the back left or right of stores, as this always is where I find great deals.  For an example my five dollar jeans I found were at the back left of Urban Outfitters.
5.Be patient.
-If at first you find what you need, but it is a little expensive, do not be afraid to keep looking at other stores.  I am amazed at how many things I find at one store, then go to another and find it much cheaper and even a better style or higher quality.  I think it is a good idea to check out all options first.  Although, everyone who shops with me makes fun of me for never buying anything right away, I can always rub it in by saying, “look who spent a lot less and got great quality items.”
6.Quantity vs. Quality
-It is a common misconception that the cheaper something is, the cheaper the quality.  Which is absolutely not true.  It is very possible to find items of good quality for a lower price.  Another item I check while shopping is the type of fabric an outfit is made of and if the seams are finished.  Some stores will price things cheaper because it was very cheap to make and has a crappy quality so it is always good to check that the seams are finished and that the garment is a good thickness and not see through.
7.Cheaper does not mean out of style
-Many stores sometimes overload on many trendy items and realize they are unable to sell the inventory and end up putting it on sale.  You can find many trendy items or even items that never go out of style on sale racks.
If you are feeling a bit discouraged after reading this load of tips on bargain shopping, I figured that I would share several items that I got great deals on.

Philip Treacy

Yes the legendary hat designer, who's career began with the help of the amazing style icon Isabella Blow (who is a completely different post that I will have to make in the future.)  Though I live in the U.S., where hats do not seem to be worn as much by people in Europe, I still can not help but absolutely love every hat that this man has created.  His biography on his website is absolutely amazing, and I found that he also got to work with Stephen Jones (who also is a post for another day as he also designs the most magnificent hats).  Philip Treacy hats have most recently been seen sitting upon Lady Gaga's head in the most spectacular fashion.  His hats are such a statement and I sometimes forget to look at the persons outfit as I am so consumed and mesmerized by his intricate pieces of art.  I have the utmost respect, admiration and appreciation for anyone who has the ability and imagination to create such pieces of work in a unique and chic fashion.  Before I continue to blabber on in a state of complete enrapture, I will just post some pictures.

These are only a few of the hats that Philip Treacy has made.  If you want to see more check out his website which includes several of his designs and his biography.  His website is...http://www.philiptreacy.co.uk
On a side note check out tomorrows post, because I will be sharing my many great bargain finds of this past month.  It is a post worth checking out!

Dominic Jones

Well, I have a shorter post today, considering I have been swamped with school work and feeling a bit under the weather.  I am not sure where you may be reading this post from, but here in North Carolina, it is cold.  I thought I would post some pictures of these amazing gloves by Dominic Jones.  No, they don't look that warm, but still.  I have considered buying leather gloves and giving them a manicure.  They are pretty freaking sweet, and kind of bad ass.

Andrew Yang- The Kouklitas

Elle, Marie Claire and Harpers Bazaar are only a few magazines that have featured a New York based artist and illustrator Andrew Yang.  I first discovered his latest creations on several blogs and was absolutely in awww.  Andrew Yang has created 27" dolls inspired by ready to wear looks from fall 2010, he even did a few in couture.  Though you may think you are to old for dolls, think again.  These adorable and extremely intricate, immaculately sewn to perfection, and over all very high fashioned stylish dolls are a perfect accessory to your couch as Andrew Yang has stated.  He created the dolls out of muslin and used every ounce of his sewing ability to recreate the looks from the runway.  He wanted to create a doll that would be similar to a rag doll and not as delicate as most dolls.  I am almost happy that I do not live near a Barney's where these dolls are being sold, as I would feel very inclined to buy several. Seriously how could you not love these!
