Meet Raf Simons for Dior

Meet Raf Simons, the new creative director for Dior.  Many of you may know, John Galliano (previous creative director of Dior) was fired over a year ago for anti-semetic comments.  After a considerable amount of time Dior has come to the conclusion of Raf Simons.  Raf Simons worked as creative director at Jil Sander for the past six years.  Sander decided to return to the label, thus making the transition to a new job easier for Simons.  I have to wonder if the transition will be easy, or if we will find a new side to Dior.  I have to admit I am partial to the extreme and theatrical work of Galliano.  His presentations of clothes were modern, girly, yet classic designs which were always unexpected and fresh.  I enjoy any designer who is able to immurse themselves completely into their work and take on a character to truly make a connection.  I look forward to what Raf Simons has to offer, but will also miss John Galliano.  I am happy to say John Galliano is still showing his personal line.  I disagree with his behavior which led to his downfall, but still, I love his designs.  There is a great article with a little more information at http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.

Cynthia Rowley Band-Aids

This is one of the oddest fashion posts, or rather just unexpected post I have had.  I never thought I would be posting about band-aids; especially band-aids by fashion designer Cynthia Rowley.  I went shopping today and saw this pretty little box of band-aids and had a bit of a moment trying to grasp the concept that she has designed band-aids.  Normally, designers do collaborations with make-up companies, shoe companies, or department stores.   I just have not heard of a collaboration with band-aids.  I am by no means complaining; I am completely happy with such a different collaboration.  I think it is a different way to get publicity for your clothes, just by simply having pretty band-aids.  You just might say these band-aids might be this seasons hottest accessory.  (At least I think they should be.)

Best Dressed this Week Lily Collins, Jennifer Hudson and Nicole Richie

Well, it was another incredibly busy week.  I still cannot wait for summer and to be free.  I do have more pictures to show of the creation of my dress (the bow dress).  I have to fix the hem on it though before I share.  I thought the hem was a disaster, but my professor disagreed and said it looked fine.  I was happy she liked it, considering she is the one who is grading it.
Here are some pictures from this week of three dresses that I absolutely love.  Stars failed at dressing properly this week; other than these three.  Many of them did not match or they wore incredibly crazy things, and not the good crazy that I like.
-Lily Collins in Zac Posen
-This dress is so different, but I really have to say that I like it.
-Jennifer Hudson (I have no idea who makes the dresses for these bottom two pictures.)  They are both gorgeous though.
 -Nicole Richie
-I love these colors and print.

Bow Dress

I am aware I did not post on the weekend.  I am almost going crazy and am running on adrenaline finishing this dress before tomorrow.  I just want it to look perfect; and so far, damn I am doing a good job.  I am happily surprised at how I was able to adjust it so the fit is perfect on my dress form.  I was so stressed out and now feel better.  This is still going to be a late night as I have to sew on the bow (pictured below) and do the sleeve and skirt hem.... Oh boy.  I will write more soon, and post more pictures.  Good night, though I still have a while before I sleep!
-It is one heck of a bow.

Pablo Piccaso

There are many people who describe modern art as not being art; I happen to love modern art.   Believe it or not, it is very hard to achieve a successful concept or piece in contemporary art.  The placement of every object has to be perfectly placed to properly portray the artists concept or idea.  My art class has currently started working on modern art or contemporary art.  I am quite intrigued.  I love things that take me a little bit to understand or that I have to think about.  This is probably why I enjoy the cubist distorted paintings that Picasso created.  I also have an appreciation for his art because he is also amazing at realism.  The realist painting is the first picture below.  It is absolutely gorgeous.  Unlike his realist creations, his cubist paintings have the most amazing use of color and line.  He is a seriously talented man.  This post does not have to much to do with fashion but, art loves fashion and fashion loves art.
-Pablo Picasso, Realism

-This piece below is one I took a picture of when it was in a museum near my home.  I was so excited to see a Picasso in real life.

Dakota Fanning in Vintage Halston

Love this dress.  The texture, fit and color are all amazing.  I think it was an interesting and perfect choice for Dakota.  Got to love great fashion moments.  I am headed to bed for some much needed sleep.  Sleep tight fashionistas.

Kitty Genius ( Adorable Drawings)

You all know how much I love interesting art pieces, considering how much I post about them.  Whether it is a greeting card, graffiti or even a doodle on a paper, I love finding something I have not seen before.  The other day while surfing the internet, I came across www.kittygenius.com.  This site features great original patterns and the most adorable greeting cards.  The greeting cards can be purchased on her etsy account which is, www.etsy.com/people/ashleyg#.  I love all of her pieces especially the ones I posted below.  They are so cute and stylish.

Elizabeth Banks

While promoting her new movie, "The Hunger Games," Elizabeth Banks has worn some of the most amazing outfits.  I had to share some pictures of the gorgeous dresses she has been wearing.  She looks great!
-Bill Blass (My favorite dress!)

--Atelier Versace (This dress is incredibly stiff, which is not such a good thing.)

-I love this Elie Saab gown too.  The man is seriously a genius in the fashion world.
