Meet Raf Simons for Dior

Meet Raf Simons, the new creative director for Dior.  Many of you may know, John Galliano (previous creative director of Dior) was fired over a year ago for anti-semetic comments.  After a considerable amount of time Dior has come to the conclusion of Raf Simons.  Raf Simons worked as creative director at Jil Sander for the past six years.  Sander decided to return to the label, thus making the transition to a new job easier for Simons.  I have to wonder if the transition will be easy, or if we will find a new side to Dior.  I have to admit I am partial to the extreme and theatrical work of Galliano.  His presentations of clothes were modern, girly, yet classic designs which were always unexpected and fresh.  I enjoy any designer who is able to immurse themselves completely into their work and take on a character to truly make a connection.  I look forward to what Raf Simons has to offer, but will also miss John Galliano.  I am happy to say John Galliano is still showing his personal line.  I disagree with his behavior which led to his downfall, but still, I love his designs.  There is a great article with a little more information at http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.
