Patricia Field

A few weeks ago I was watching a show about small yet great places to go when in New York, one of those places to visit was Patricia Fields boutique.  From seeing around her store on the show, I had to go online to see if it was true; that this store had absolutely everything that I could ever dream of, and it did.  I always dream that when I grow older and more experienced in the fashion world that I may own my own boutique someday.  I now know that I would use Patricia Field as my inspiration.  I would be worried if I ever made it to Patricia Fields as I would be quite the excited paying customer.  Check out her site for yourself, www.patriciafield.com.  Here are some of my favorites!
Jeremy Scott designed these babies, and that is also why I like them so much.

Love or obsession can not cover exactly how I feel about these shoes.  Who has $3000 dollars they want to lend me? (I am just kidding)  They are the best shoes ever though.
These booties are $3700 and probably worth it. (They do look dangerous though)

In the near future I am planning on posting a few outfits that I made including my maxi skirt and a few dresses to share with all of you.  As always thank you all so much for reading.

I found this video from Urban Outfitters blog to be very inspiring.  The people have a great amount of talent while all designing things that go along with the feel of clothing that are sold in Urban Outfitters, yet each offer something very different.  I adore that neck tie by Three Potato Four, it is cute and clever.  I always get inspired by videos on Urban Outfitters like this as the music is soothing and they are interesting, while still having the whole vibe that comes with shopping at Urban Outfitters.  Their blog is so much fun to follow, if you are not already following, I suggest you at least check it out.  You can find the blog at http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com.

1930's Fashion and Music

Today as I slipped on a pair of blue rubber gloves that went to my elbows, I was reminded how I used to pretend that I was Cinderella.  I would pretend that I had to finish cleaning in a timely manner in order to attend the ball.  Having these memories in my mind as I prepared to clean my bathroom, I felt the sudden urge to listen to old time music. (Yes I know Cinderella has nothing to do with old music.)  I found a station on pandora radio for big band and was satisfied.  I then began to think of how much I love big band music of the 1930's specifically, and of course the fashion of the 1930's.  I am partial to listening to Benny Goodman, as a clarinet player myself, I have a big appreciation for his incredible sound quality and amazing talent on the instrument.  (It is also a good idea to listen to Benny Goodman as you look at the pictures, it sets the mood.)  Hope you enjoy!

John Galliano

I guess I do not have much to say because I do not know what to say.  I am lost through several stories that I have read in different websites all of which express different views.  Many of you may already know, as of March 1, 2011, John Galliano was fired from the fashion house Christian Dior due to alleged anti semetic comments the designer said towards a group of Italian women in a cafe.  I am so saddened and dissapointed that these events have occurred as I find so much inspiration through John Galliano and the way that he presents himself through his work.  He is so talented.  He begins his trial before June and could possibly face six months in jail.  Christian Dior's line will continue as John Galliano only owned a small percentage of the house.  Though I believe that it will be missing the strong vision and eccentric feel that Mr. Galliano himself brought to the collections.  I do hope that an apology is in order for those who were affected by these comments.  Let me know how you feel on this controversy, I love to hear feedback.

Haute Hat Show

Today was a dream come true.  To most people in the fashion industry, or even those who follow fashion, it may seem just like another fashion show.  In my eyes, as I watched the models work their hats around the restaurant 128 South, in a sophisticated manner, I could not have been more excited and overwhelmed.  The only fashion show I have ever been to before was one in my high school where I was a model for one of five of my own designs.  That show was special for me as it was my first, but to go to a fashion show, specifically one for the most beautiful hats that I have ever seen, was my dream come true.  It amazing to be surrounded by so many people who are very talented, creative and all around just great people.  When we arrived at the restaurant where the event was being held, I helped my Mom's best friend Miss Rox also known to me and my sister as Aunt Rox, set up her flower center pieces for each table.  She was one of many sponsors for the show and just makes beautiful arrangements that helped to illuminate and set the scene for the show that was entitled, "Spring time in Paris."  Then we got to mingle a bit, which was fabulous to have "Aunt Rox" there to help introduce me to the designers and Jess James who is known for her many stylist jobs, events and fashion shows all around.
Did you ever meet someone and think of everything that you want to say to them, like how much you like their work, and then ask fifty questions about how they got there and pretty much their whole life story?  That was me, but instead I shook hands and sort of just stared at each in awe.  All of the hat designers were amazing people, who shared the most interesting stories and are the nicest people that you could ever wish to meet.  I began to speak with one designer in particular, who actually was assigned at my table right next to me.  Her name was Dianne, from Hats to Di For!  She was so amazing to talk to considering how down to earth she was.  Before the show started she offered to let me wear one of her hats during the show since everyone was wearing a hat.  I was so excited she picked up the one hat that I fell in love with right when I entered and believe me I cherished that time of wearing that hat during the show.  I am now even more obsessed with hats now and am even inspired to possibly make my own.  We all sat and enjoyed a lunch right before the show started.  French music began to play and the models began to strut with their sense of debonair in their "haute" hats.  After the show the hats began to sell so quickly, which made me so happy for the designers.  All that I can say is guess what I am now saving up for?
I also wanted to say thank you to all of the designers who were there to show their work and passion with others.  Thank you for all of the inspiration and for living your dreams.  Thank you to Dianne for letting me wear one of her fabulous hats and for telling me about the best fabric stores.  Thank you to Jan Wutkowski for hosting the event and for sharing her many beautiful designs with everyone.  I am so happy to have attended this event.  Here are some pictures of the hats, though they are a bit blurry because I forgot to charge my camera, (not very smart on my part.)

Hats Fashion Show

Saturday morning I am planning on waking up and heading to the beach area for a hat fashion show.  Excited does not seem like a big enough word to explain how I am feeling!  I am so excited and just making sure that my outfit is in order.  I know this is just a short post, but I had quite the busy day at work and a surprise visit from my sister which is always nice.  I will definitely have a post about the show and most likely some pictures.  For now check out the aMuse (the shop and ladies who are holding and designed the hats for the event) blog.  www.janshatshatshats.blogspot.com

Paris: Mugler

Lady Gaga hits the runway?  Lady Gaga decided to join in on fashion week fun in Paris last night at the Mugler runway for what was being called the "most anticipated fashion show of the year," by style.com.  Though, in the end it was said to have left a few fans disappointed, due to dimmly lit runway.  I of course always seem to be the acception to these disappointments, as that runway show looked like it would have been so much fun to actually be sitting their watching it live, dimmly lit or not.  Nicola Formichetti's and Sebastien Piegne clothes were ecceptionaly crafted and rather sheer but still fierce as the models worked those outfits all the way down that runway.  I am pleased, it is funky and structured clothing which is just right, especially for the likes of Lady Gaga.

Spring Break

Have you ever woke up one morning and realized how happy you are to be alive?  Today is my day of that realization.  I was unable to post last night due to a rather large load of homework that was all due by midnight.  Working late at night at my job and only two days to do a ton of problems in several classes was not very helpful to the stress that followed.  A little before 11:36 pm, I had finished everything and with a yawn of exhaustion went to bed.  This relief of not having to do a lot of homework today helped me to wake up in such a great mood.  I was even more pleased when I officially purchased tickets for a hat fashion show this Saturday.  Perhaps many of you already know how much I enjoy couture hats, as I have posted about Phillip Treacy and mentioned Stephen Jones and my love for their designs.  Though these one of a kind hats are designed by a local women from Wilmington and from the pictures that I have seen on her website and blog, they are nothing short of stunning.  I will have more information on the show and such in a later post. After getting off of the phone and jumping up and down with excitement in a nearly pathetic rage of excitement, I paused and thought what many girls or boys think before attending a fashion show...What am I going to wear?  I shall figure this out in the mean time, as I only have 3 days to decide (which is more than possible to accomplish.)  For now I am enjoying my first day of spring break with a hot latte, sitting outside with my dog Sophie, and soaking up this ridiculously beautiful March 2nd day.  I am planning on having more post for the spring break, not to fear of anymore late night homework for the next week.  I hope that everyone is enjoying their day as well!

I took these pictures on my computer which should explain the crooked first picture.  I love my little Sophie dog, she has such a silly personality.  When I was driving to get some coffee today, I brought her along since she loves car rides.  At every stop light she would stand up at the door and stare at the people in the next car over until they looked at her and waved, then she would lay back down and do it at the next stop light.  It was as if she was playing peek-a-boo or perhaps it was just me anthropomorphizing her.
