Fashion Week 2011

I can not stress enough how excited I am for this fashion week that begins today.  Though many smaller names were the ones to show first today, they did nothing more than show the most amazing and well designed clothing.  I am sensing many different trends for the coming season.  The colors range from deep red, cremes/camels, browns, blues whether they are royal or deep turquoise, even army greens.  Of course, I can not forget my beloved black which is strewed across the runways, as they are presented in a type of goth/punk/or grunge type flairs especially seen in Zac Posen line (Z spoke by Zac Posen). Along with the grunge or goth type styles, many have been seen with what I feel to be a bit of a 60's mod flair, especially in a few outfits that came down the BCBG Max Azria runway.  BCBG Max Azria delivered strong geometric shapes and cuts of outfits that were beautifully draped with a minimalistic feel.  They would be so simple and easy to wear for any women.  They even added a few outfits with fur which is nice that fur is still in for this season.

Another favorite of mine was Norma Kamal who had a small line that can be seen on style.com.  Though she only had few outfits, it is very easy to fall in love with the intricate lace, or other mod styled clothing.  I am a new fan!  If you are in need of knowing what is going on every second of New York Fashion Week check out of course http://www.style.com or even another favorite of mine, considering I love their magazine, http://www.wwd.com.  I hope that everyone is enjoying the best week ever.

Prabal Gurung

Well tomorrow is the beginning of what will become months of me drooling on my keyboard over fall 2011 fashions, yes that is correct New York Fashion week begins tomorrow( or today the 10th depends on when and where you are reading)!  What I would do to be at Lincoln Center, watching 6ft models in beautifully crafted and designed pieces of art made by some of the most talented people that I would only ever dream to meet!  Okay before I get to crazy I will move on to, Prabal Gurung.  This emerging designer has seen his clothes worn by Oprah, Zoe Saldana, Demi Moore and many others.  He recently began his own line in 2009 and showed at Bryant Park (recent location changed to Lincoln Center) in 2010.  I have oh so quickly become a fan of his work.  I absolutely adore his past Spring 2011 line and even featured a blue and orange color blocked dress on my blog under Spring 2011.  What I am getting at is, I am still completely obsessed with style.com and I managed to find sketches of what Prabal Gurung is presenting on this Saturday.  He apparently has done some work with Swarovski crystals, can you say I am in love!  What can I say I love shiny, sparkly things.  This picture is from style.com under the breaking news section.  Here is the link in case you want to play on it for hours and read everything the website has ever posted, http://news.style.com.

I love his sketches they are perfection and has some very simple lines.  Looking at this sketch though almost makes me shake with excitement as I can not wait to see what Fashion week has to offer.
- On a side note I am getting ready to begin packing after my two classes tomorrow (or on the 10th of February) for Maryland.  I am so excited, I need to get away.  I therefore, promise to take a lot of pictures and keep you up to date on what adventures I have in Maryland!

Free People

Today, as I was checking out my favorite blogs and lookbook, I found that I was really enjoying the dresses and more feminine looks.  I would love to wear more dresses.  My style is a bit weird sometimes, either it is something black, jeans, boots or a dress.  I thought that I would share some of my favorite pics from http://www.freepeople.com.  They have some of the cutest clothes, though they are a bit pricey many free people items end up in a department store near me if they don't sell.
This first dress has such a great color and looks comfy yet chic.
Of course I love black, which makes this dress awesome.
This dress has such a great fit, especially if you have curves!
This skirt is so cute and I really like the way it is styled.
This dress is so simple, but so girly and pretty.  The back is such a nice touch.

Weekend.

Well, I have returned home.  I had a great weekend with my sister and her fiance.  Saturday night was filled with great sister time, a great dinner, arts and craft then many hours late at night of rock band.  I have to say it was a lovely get away.  Yesterday me, my sister and her fiance came back to town for a superbowl party and had fun though my team had to face defeat, they are still a great team though.  I have been a bit under the weather and am doing a load of school work and other things that are keeping me busy and stressed.  Here is a picture of my piece of art, ewww, that I made when hanging out with my sister.  We have been trying and playing with stamps in such in preparation to make her wedding cards.  I wrote my name.  I should have another post attempting to update the loads of pre fall lines for fashion week that begins on Thursday, which also the day before I leave for my trip to Maryland which I promise to document better than I did this past weekend.

Stripes!

This morning as I am packing a little and getting ready to leave in two hours for my sisters house, I found myself checking out forever 21.com.  I am excited to say that spring has come at forever 21.  Considering that I am a little curvacious, stripes never look good on me when it is a fitted shirt.  If you are like me and have the same problem then I found shirts that can work for the rest of us.  Though they are oversized it is amazing how they can fit just right to show off your curves without being very revealing.  Enjoy.

Thrift Shopping Continued...

I finally decided to stop by the thrift shop on my way home from school today expecting to purchase the midi skirt, which I still am not completely sold on.  I walked in and spotted a row of 5 boots, that resembled the doc martens that I have admired for a long time.  I ran over to them and quickly lifted each one up to see the sizes.  I wanted to jump up and down with joy when I found my size and put them on my feet as quickly as I could.  The fit was amazing and they were about to be mine!  I was even more overwhelmed with joy when the women who was working there told me they were only $7, uhhh heck yes!  I have been wearing them ever since I left the store about 4 hours ago.  I also told the women how excited I was about fifty times, I think I may frightened her a bit, but WOW they are so awesome!  Anyway, this new thrift store is now a favorite shop of mine.  I also managed to find a leather jacket but decided not to get it because I did not have enough cash with me, so it is on the wish list for now.  What a lovely day!
The buckles on the back are such a nice touch.
This weekend, as of tomorrow at noon I am leaving to go to my sisters for the weekend and am so excited.  I can not promise to have a post on Sunday due to a busy day and of course the superbowl.  I should have pictures to share of a fashionable weekend with the sister.

Thakoon

Thakoon.  What a spring line.  That is all I have to say, Thakoon created taylored yet comfortably chic clothing that so many women would love to wear.  I must say that I love so many of his white pieces even though I am not a big fan of white on top and bottom.  My favorite pieces in the collection would have to be these beautiful flowy dresses.  I want one of those flowy dresses, a windy day, and field filled with flowers to run and act like I am a model or a weirdo, but that is what the dresses remind me of.  The fabric moves so beautifully and is just effortlessly chic.  How can one not be in love?

Just a heads up, fashion week for New York begins February 10-17 and I am so darn excited, to bad I won't actually be there.  I am still so excited though!!!

High Waisted continued...

Well I was able to find high waisted pants online at none other that American Apparel, which is the only store that I know of that has every major trend before anyone even knows it exists.  They are the best, and I love them for that.

Unfortunately they are only sold in select colors, though the green and cream are my favorites, denim is yet to be found.  The search still continues....

Heidi Klum

I have yet another post about Heidi Klum.  I found that I really enjoy her ever changing style, she always looks pretty and chic.  This is a picture that was taken at a celebrity flag football benefit.  I absolutely love this blazer!  The only problem is I have no idea who makes it, which bums me out.  If anyone knows feel free to share.  I love the style it is very cool, heck I would wear it that is for sure.  Speaking of Heidi Klum there is still no word about season 9 of Project Runway and the anticipation is killing me.  I love that show so much!

High Waisted

I am becoming and have been for a very long time a big fan of high waisted pants.  I think that they are tacky, classy and cute all at the same time.  I am currently in love with a pair by J Brand, but am unable to find a picture to use.  Spring 2011 had plenty of collections with the 70's inspired look but in my case those high waisted pants are no where to be found on racks at stores where I live.  I have never even tried a pair on in my life because I have not been able to find them, especially where the top of the pant will hit me right at the waist and cinch it in to accentuate my curves allowing it to look normal.  The search continues.... Here is some inspiration from the runway.
ADAM
 Hermes
 Monique Lhuillier
The red pair above are my favorite.  I also feel that recently I have skimped a bit on the interesting post, but not to be upset because, I am going to my sisters house this weekend, then Maryland the next.  Those places should account for some good posts, inspirations and pictures.  I am now off to study for a test and do a ton of homework.  Have a great day!  I know I do not do this enough, but thank you so much for reading it really means a lot.  If you ever have anything to say, comment or to argue feel free to leave a comment or email me.
